The Elendian Calendar is the official chronicler of time recognized by every civilization throughout Valcia. An Elendian year is 368 days long and is split into eight, forty-six day-long months. These months are (in chronological order):

Majar

Kayros

Thalos

Soern

Nialus

Faeth

    The beginning of the month of Caravas, and thus the Elendian year, was originally marked by the thawing of the lands of Valcia from winter's blanket. Ages ago, it was believed that the harshness of winter would erase the mistakes and hardships of the previous year and the coming of spring symbolized the chance for new dreams, new prosperity, and new happiness. As such, the coming of spring would also serve to herald in the new year.

    Each of the eight months are split into four seasons with two months per season. Thus the spring months are Caravas and Verrin, the summer months are Majar and Kayros, the autumn months are Thalos and Soern, and the winter months are Nialus and Faeth.

    The Awakening Saga series begins on the 43rd of Verrin, 3059 O.E. (Old Elendian).
